Brian Peel

Name:Brian Peel

e-mail:brian.peel@ec-ltd

School Leaving Year: 1970/71

Memory of Edgware School: The caravan we had as a 6th form common room. A really good rugby team. Great mates. School dinners. Normy Barnes (20 stone games teacher). Eric Blindt and of course Watfords best supporter Mr Hodgkinson the deputy head. Some really "fit " women, I should know I married one of them.

Notes:Married, 2 children electrical engineer living in Cheshunt, Herts.

Edgware Story:

In 70/71 the year Judith (wife) and I were in the upper sixth we had a caravan as our sixth form common room which we destroyed in the space of a year. The references to the Topp's brings to mind that Laurie Topp was a member of our 6th form, last heard of living in Ireland. Stephen Mayles was head boy and Brian Peel Deputy head boy and Maureen Nabb Head Girl and I think Mary Panyi was deputy head girl. Maureen Nabb used to live in Kings Drive and then moved to Hillside Drive where the Taylors used to live. She was also a really good Javelin thrower and I think went to the all England Games.

I see someone was raking over the various stories of Fred Corlett. No comment but I did wonder if Sandra Moore? (Sarah) was the sister of Roberta Moore who was in the year ahead of me. Talking of

Fred he and his wife Jan bought a dilapidated house at the back of Stanmore that we spent most of our time in the Sixth Form rebuilding, Dad got involved along the way as well. Jan and Fred eventually got divorced but Jan was a bit of a stunner and taught Home Economic / Needlework at the School.

69/70 Head Boy etc. I think Steve Cook / Paul Rogers.

Paul Rogers was a strange beast, managed to get 3 A's which was unheard of. Also a really great bloke and great rugby player. Never forget the match where he had the ball and head down set of for the try line only to crash head first into the posts.

Head Girl Margaret Clary, now she really was a drop dead gorgeous stunner. Now there was a guy called Michael Singer who failed his A levels and came back in our year to resit. We used to call him upper upper sixth. He eventually came back to the school as a teacher. MORE
