School Leaving Year:1969/70 Upper 6th / Year 13

Memory of Edgware School:Great friends, good fun but a very mixed educational experience. Remember our fishbowl of a common room on the ground floor next to the Science lab. I remember Miss Noy with her feet on the waste paper basket and calling her pick roll and flick. Mr Humphries dictating the same notes year after year. I should know I tried to pass the exam 3 times but never managed it. Great teachers like Jennie Graham who gave me my love Home Economics and gave me the encouragement to go into teaching - was that really a good thing? Also Roger Daw who was my form tutor and wrote a poem which ended each verse with Brockett is a noisy bird. Also Mrs Rutherford who was a brilliant Biology teacher I can still draw the inner ear and eye from memory - very useful skills in today's world! Lots of other memories from the early years, freezing winters on the playground wearing long drawers. Messing around in the toilets and someone slipping and knocking themselves out. Choosing our 6th form uniform, breaking my wrist doing the hurdles. Finally great friends that I still keep in touch with Chris Hunter nee Codd and Marion Smith nee Crew. Marion keeps in touch with Margaret Pidding and Peter Malyon.
