Comments: Just looked at the leaving photos for the class of 82 - I recognise most of you, and can even give you a few of the names that were missing. One of the last pictures on the 'last day of '82 where its written "Jo Hartley, Kala Mailoo & someone? Sorry?" Maybe I should be saying sorry looking like that! That rake was me! And yes you were right whoever submitted the photos it was Graham Garrad, There was also Antonella Marriotti & Fiona Tansy, I wonder where they are now were all in our forties?

Comments:	On the off-chance that anyone's reading this from 'my' year, I thought I'd post a short message to say: A few of us from our year (joined the school in '73, left in 79, lower 6th) are meeting for a drink at what was the Green Man on Hale Lane at the junction with Selvage Lane/Deans Lane, now a Harvester called the Jolly Badger I believe (dont ask!). Comments:	I have only just found this site today and I see that there aren't too many folk around the time I left Edgware School in 1958 when I was 13. I noticed one or two names of teachers that I knew i.e. Mr Cook,Mr Browne, Mr Barnes ( PT ) but others are just a distant memory. If you care to email then please feel free to do so.I went back to the area of Edgware two weeks ago ( not to Edgware School ) but to Deansbrook Junior and Infants School which I attended 1950 -1956, then moved onto Edgware School. Comments:	I would like to add a note to the statement made by John Friend back in July about Edgware school. I was one of the "losers" who consider myself fortunate to have attended the former secondary modern back in 1948 through 1952. I was given a good start by the staff there at the time: Mr Hodgkins, Mr. Pike, Miss Keirl and Mr. Cook who was the head master at that time. I believe that Mr. Cook joined the school in 1950. Although I made no great scholastic achievements at Edgware I did earn a Higher National Cert. in mechanical engineering later while on a part time course at Hendon Tech. Which I consider at least in part due to the help and encouragement I was given in the earlier years by the staff at Edgware Sec. Mod.

Comments:	just discovered this site & hope it grows inyo something special, Memories of Spur Road. Good ones include '67 trip to Germany,our stunning biology teacher whose name escapes me. Not so good ones 2 large thumps off Mr Townleys size ten Dunlop plimsoll for not standing up when he entered the games room & carrying on telling a joke. All in all though great days though unfortunately only memories remained of those days till I found this site. All power to all involved in the technical side & I hope all those in touch have & are making the best of what Edgware gave us

Comments:	It appears the the Borough of Barnet is more than happy to wash it hands of this currently underachieving school and allow it to be rebuilt as a City Academy. Where are the students who cannot meet the City Academy criteria expected to be educated? One wonders what will happen when results do not meet expectations and interest is lost by the benefactor. Will it become a 21st Century concrete slum and revert to being a lost cause, once again failing the children who in a few short years will represent Britain's future. Comments:	Letter to the Edgeare Times July 29/05 Old Secondary Modern was cut above I was amazed by the gall of Phil Hearne (Reaching the top', July 7), principal of the London Academy formerly The Edgware School, to trumpet his achievement of each student achieving one GCSE and that 40 per cent got' (sic) five passes from A-C. Putting this bad grammar aside, such a proud statement is inane. The Edgware School, from 1956 to 1964, was honoured to have the late Geoffrey Cook as its headmaster. The school, at that time, was classified as Secondary Modern', which, in the parlance of the day, was a school for losers Yet its motivated teachers permitted thousands of 11-plus failures' to go on and achieve academic success, despite their perceived underprivileged status. The record speaks for itself the student pass rates in Royal Society of Arts exams (taken at only 14 years old), Oxford Board O-levels and A-levels made Edgware the leading non-grammar' school in the former Borough of Hendon S

Comments:	What a surprise. I went back to the Old school during a holiday in England only to find that it is now set behind laarge steel gates and is now called London Academy. The classrooms where metal and woodwork was taught I recall was a single storey and is not 3 storeys. Also, when I went to take some photographs from the outside I was approached by a security man and told that I couldnt take any photos, even when I told him that I was an ex student and now lived in Australia. What a letdown.

Comments:	Hi there folks - I still look on here quite reguarly but stopped writing messages as it got to the stage were it seemed it only me on here! Life in Italy is good - I've made a career change, well just a change in jobs really and I've given up teaching at the school where I've been for the past 7 years. I really needed a change and feel good about it! As for the reunion next year, sorry but "I know NOTHING" The next big get together (at least maybe for some of us) is my Brother's wedding next month - surprised?? He's finally decided to get tie the marital knot, it's taken him a while but now he's decided there's no turning back - I want to wish all the best to him and my future sister in law, Jenny. Maybe I'll be seeing some of you guys on the day anyway... all the Italian side of the 'Roycrofts' will be decending (well all 3 of us anyway!) for the occasion. Comments:	SANDRA, i remember your name,iwas pretty naughty at school,but looking back iwasnt ready or mature enough,having said that some of the teaching methods in our day would see many teachers on the dole now or in jail!!i was a square peg trying to be pushed into a round hole,i had issues with petty rules and conformity, (still do sometimes!)i believe some of those teaching methods also shared in my failure at school,as for many others no doubt.Never held me back in life though,school is not the be all and end all as many might imagine,you learn much more after school,which has much greater significance!

Comments:	I was just going through the photos and general comments of past students and realised that though many years have passed since I was a student, I still have a very close feeling for the old school. I migrated to Australia 30 years ago now and next year will most likely be my last visit to the 'Old Country', but I have made up my mind that I shall make one last visit to the school, and peek through the fence at the place of my youthful education. I also remember Mr Blindt, but I have lost count of the number of sixes he made with his imaginery cricket bat at the front of the class. Mt Brown (Biology), who had so much time for his students. Ms Ported, Mr Hotchkiss, Mr Cooke, who only spoke kind words. They were the days. I am not certain if one of my teachers was called Ms Roslind, but she knew how to give a pretty fair wallop over the knuckles with the 'Tickler'. I left in 1961, and doubt that I will have been remembered, but if so, please drop me a line. It will be nice o cha

Comments:	Happy New year from down under.I've been checking out this site for a while now and thought it's time to see if anyone remembers me. I emigrated to New Zealand 18 months ago with my Kiwi wife and 2 kids.I was disappointed to miss the school reunion as I had always wanted to thank Rob Reid for his help when I was going to drop out of the city and guilds engineering course that he was running. If it wasn't for him I'd still be stuck in some dead end job in London.Instead, I managed to get a job as a trainee Camera engineer and have just completed my 20th year in the Film industry. I've had the opportunity to travel to many countries in the world and work on some amazing films.We decided to settle in New Zealand and so I was able to transfer to our Auckland branch. We are enjoying our new life in this beautiful country and it's all down to Rob Reid.Thank you sir. Does anyone know what's happened to some of my old mates like Terry King, John Macdonald and Steven Parker? It'd be great
